Ji Herp is a Medieval Fantasy RPG halfway between Dungeons & Dragons e t Pendragon. He draws from D & D its image fanciful with its share of exotic creatures such as Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, Fairies ... His Magic and his world borrowing mysteries and legends. But it also derives from a highly serious Pendragon what the Christian religion, his escapades Historical, his quest for the Grail and his obsessive need to convert all the humans, manage humanity and wipe out other races and anything that does returns not to worship, accusing heresy and Satanism.
To summarize, This game allows you to discover a medieval world mysticism complex and very special. You can embody more than one 20aine of different races and consistent.
YOU are the elected representatives of one of these gods of Chaos, Dark Order or see Satan or Gods. Only you can choose your destiny. You follow the path of the Gods or yours?
system:
The system of conflict resolution and action is based on percentages , whose concept is familiar to everyone. A percentage of success is actually more intuitive and less abstract than a system of levels. In fact, it allows a beginner to fully understand the system, especially when one puts into historical context where other games used a plethora of differences depending on the type of action.
The character (whether human, animal or other) is defined by a set of characteristics and of skills . The characteristics used to define the fundamental building blocks of character, while his skills are knowledge, skills and know-how .
The characteristics are numbered 8 and scored on 20:
- force (FOR ): physical power;
- constitution (CON): physical resistance (to disease, fatigue);
- size (TAI) : both size and mass of an individual;
- intelligence (INT): learning ability and understanding;
- Spirit ( ESP) ability and willingness magic;
- dexterity (DEX): natural agility, reaction speed;
- charisma (CHA): ability to attract the sympathies to charm.
- beauty (NICE): Beauty purely physical.
skills were $ 100 and represent the character has learned during his life. This system is very intuitive: if a character has 30% in a skill, then it will have 30% chance of success in a roll of 100 faces in action in this field. It can exceed 100 in skills for the characters truly gifted in one area, such a score to cope with complicated situations that will reduce the chances of success.
My feeling:
I am immersed in this RPG for a good ten years, almost exclusively in mastering a game that is always my preference.
Already in terms of character creation, although social class remains the same as D & D, the choice of breeds, it leaves more choices, among two dozen races, although it has classics such as Dwarves, Elves, Humans, ... It makes great with exotic breeds, such as metamorphic, Felidae, Men Dragon, the Eternals, the Elves or Fairies, ... The number of playable race offers Ji Herp notion of exoticism and this very strong sense of the back-ground of the latter.
Another criterion is its magic. To summarize the Magic Ji Herp, we can say that the Magi are the canvas of reality and shapes it into what they want (or Ars Magica Mage). There are restrictions and can not spell predefined. It is the player's imagination and knowledge of the character used. This gives rise to comical moment or moments of decision-head for the DOJ, but the price freedom, the choice not to be constrained as in other games ...
Last but not least, religion. Very active in Herp Ji is the nerve center of the latter, making the lifeblood of its history. The result of mixing a known religion in a fantasy world provides a certain character in the world. The PJ's immersed in it, because even if the old races were enough of these religions (often inspired by religious Celts, Norse, Greek, ...), the Light (Christianity), it is almost everywhere, coating the universe this game of his heavy coat.
